Head of Leadership & Learning
Contract: 6–9 months (potential temp-to-perm)
Location: Nutley, NJ (Hybrid: 3 days onsite / 2 days remote)
Salary : $130,000 - $150,000k per year
We are partnering with a global, market-leading consumer goods organization to appoint an experienced Head of Leadership & Learning . This is a high-impact, interim opportunity for a seasoned HR leader to step into a dynamic environment and drive forward critical talent and development initiatives across North America.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives as a strategic “utility player”—equally comfortable shaping talent strategy as they are delivering hands-on learning solutions.
The Role
As a senior Talent & Learning Partner, you will lead the regional Learning & Development agenda while supporting broader talent management priorities. You’ll work closely with HR leaders, senior stakeholders, and global centres of excellence to design and deliver programmes that strengthen leadership capability and future talent pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Learning: (Primary)
Develop and deliver the North America Learning & Development agenda and overall curriculum
Partner with HR to define L&D needs, align nominees for attendance to leadership programmes from market and facilitate leadership development programs.
Support identification of mentors / coaches for SMT and MM HIPO population; act as coach to business leaders
Work with Functional Talent Partners to provide inputs to Academies, provide feedback on needs, understand progress and embedding
Oversee Learning needs analysis for the Area and budget needs with business – partnering with academy and leadership development to identify appropriate interventions
Support the development of our future leaders through a robust quality review of development plans, providing feedback/input to HR, business leaders and successors.
PDR, Talent & Succession Planning: (Secondary)
Embed process (objective setting, mid-year and end-year) with functional HRLT and feedback to COE on enhancements
Enable the Talent process cycle for Regional Leadership teams
Support local HR on PDP process – ensuring Band B+ HIPOs have robust plans in place (methodology / action planning / progress planning)
Embed methodology for succession planning and talent pooling in partnership with local HR, develop and implement the strategy to build the commercial talent pools for Band A and SMT roles
Define career paths which build future commercial experts and leaders
Culture – DEI; Well-being; Engagement/Continuous Listening: (Ad hoc)
Partner with Global COEs to shape culture initiatives with insights from function; drive engagement
Partner HR to refine implementation / activation plans for cultural initiatives
Additional Responsibilities
Design and deliver engaging learning programmes and workshops
Lead employee recognition programmes, including nomination and governance processes
Partner with VP-level stakeholders and contribute to national-level presentations
Respond to evolving business needs with agile, tailored development solutions
About You
10+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources
Strong background in talent management, succession planning, and leadership development
Experience in HR Business Partnering and leading teams
Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders in a matrixed, global organization
Excellent facilitation, coaching, and presentation skills
Strong project management and ability to manage multiple priorities
Adaptable, solutions-oriented, and comfortable in fast-paced environments
Degree in HR or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
