Clarios Supplier Quality Engineer TEMPORARY in Nuevo León, Mexico
The Role
As a Supplier Quality Engineer , you will be responsible for ensuring supplier performance meets Clarios quality standards and industry requirements. This role plays a critical part in strengthening supplier capabilities, driving continuous improvement, and supporting operational excellence across the supply base. You will act as a key link between suppliers, engineering, purchasing, and plant operations to ensure product and process quality.
What You’ll Do (Impact Areas)
Supplier Quality Management & Compliance
Ensure supplier compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
Develop and implement supplier quality requirements, procedures, and evaluation criteria.
Conduct supplier audits across systems, processes, and products to assess capabilities and risks.
Supplier Development & Performance Improvement
Drive supplier performance through metrics, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Monitor supplier KPIs including PPM, nonconformance trends, and corrective action effectiveness.
Lead supplier development efforts to meet evolving quality expectations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Engineering, Purchasing, and Plant teams to resolve supplier-related quality issues.
Support new product introductions and changes through Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP).
Review engineering drawings and specifications to validate supplier capability.
Project Management & Product Launch Support
Support Product Launch System (PLUS) initiatives including AQP and PSO.
Lead or contribute to supplier-related projects, ensuring timelines and quality deliverables are met.
Manage supplier PPAP approvals and associated documentation (FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC).
Problem Solving & Issue Resolution
Lead containment actions and ensure effective resolution of supplier quality issues using structured methodologies (e.g., 8D).
Facilitate root cause analysis and ensure implementation of sustainable corrective actions.
Provide on-site leadership at supplier locations when required.
Governance & Reporting
Track and report supplier performance metrics and improvement progress.
Facilitate supplier quality reviews with underperforming suppliers.
Support internal audits and compliance requirements.

Reduction in supplier-related defects and production disruptions.
Successful execution of product launches with fully compliant supplier processes.

Timely closure of corrective actions with sustainable results.

What You Bring (Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field (CQE preferred)
5+ years of experience in quality engineering or supplier quality
Experience with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, or VDA standards (required)
Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC methodologies
Six Sigma certification (Black Belt preferred)
Experience in manufacturing or automotive industry preferred
Bilingual: English and Spanish (required)
Work Model & Travel
