The Role

The Reliability Engineer is responsible for designing, leading, and executing the plant’s asset reliability strategy throughout the entire lifecycle of equipment. This role focuses on advanced failure analysis, risk evaluation, and data‑driven maintenance optimization to ensure a preventive, high‑performance, and cost‑efficient operation. The position identifies and eliminates recurring failures, improves asset availability, and reduces total lifecycle cost (LCC) by integrating reliability principles into maintenance, operations, and engineering processes.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and document Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for chronic failures and high‑impact events, ensuring permanent elimination of recurrence.

  • Establish, analyze, and communicate strategic reliability KPIs (availability, reliability, criticality, LCC, failures avoided).

  • Identify and prioritize critical assets based on safety, environmental, production, and lifecycle cost impact.

  • Conduct advanced data analysis on MTBF, MTTR, availability, downtime, and lifecycle cost to identify failure patterns and improvement opportunities.

  • Facilitate and apply optimization methodologies such as RCM, PMO, FMEA/FMECA, Weibull, and RAM analysis , integrating outcomes with Operations and Maintenance.

  • Develop, update, and maintain optimized preventive and predictive maintenance plans in collaboration with Maintenance Engineering and Operations.

  • Propose and drive improvements in equipment design, operation, and maintenance to eliminate failure modes and increase systemic reliability.

  • Ensure alignment of Condition Monitoring routes (vibration, thermography, ultrasound, oil analysis) with asset criticality and reliability strategies.

  • Coordinate with Projects Engineering to integrate reliability criteria into new equipment acquisitions and modifications .

  • Build and present technical and financial business cases to justify redesigns, replacements, or major asset improvements.

  • Consolidate historical data on failures, costs, downtime, and performance for future analysis and strategic decision‑making.

  • Promote a reliability‑driven culture through training, standardization, and documentation of best practices.

  • Serve as technical liaison with OEMs, external consultants, and corporate stakeholders.

  • Participate in risk analyses for critical assets and guide actions to mitigate operational, safety, environmental, and financial risks.

What Success Looks Like

  • Reduction of chronic and high‑impact failures.

  • Improved equipment availability, reliability, and lifecycle cost performance.

  • Maintenance plans optimized and aligned with asset criticality.

  • Strong adoption of reliability tools across Operations and Maintenance.

  • Clear, executive‑level communication of findings and recommendations.

  • Reliability criteria embedded into new projects and capital decisions.

What You Bring

  • Education: Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or related field; desirable specialization in Reliability, Asset Management (ISO 55000), Maintenance Engineering, or Six Sigma.

  • Technical Expertise:

  • Advanced RCM, PM Optimization, FMEA/FMECA, RCA

  • Weibull analysis, probability of failure, RAM/Monte Carlo simulations

  • Lifecycle cost (LCC) analysis and replacement modeling

  • Mechanical/electrical/power/rotating systems knowledge

  • Experience integrating reliability into CAPEX engineering projects

  • Strong data analytics: Excel, Power BI; Python preferred

  • CMMS expertise (Maximo): criticality, asset hierarchy, PM configuration, failure history, backlog, KPIs

  • Solid understanding of condition monitoring technologies

  • Skills & Competencies:

  • Systems thinking and analytical mindset

  • Strategic orientation and long‑term vision

  • Cross‑functional influence and technical authority
