Lead, Engineering Quality, Compliance & Governance – R&D Mexico
This role leads the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of a standards-aligned engineering governance, quality, and compliance system across all Mexico-based R&D teams. As a key leader within Engineering, you will ensure that development processes are robust, auditable, and aligned with global standards while enabling efficient and scalable execution.
You will own process governance, engineering quality assurance, and PMO execution frameworks, while integrating Functional Safety and Cybersecurity requirements into the development lifecycle. This role is critical to ensuring compliance, audit readiness, and high-quality delivery across all R&D programs.
What You’ll Do (Impact Areas)
Process Governance & Standardization
Define, harmonize, and deploy engineering and project lifecycle processes across Mexico R&D
Establish clear roles, deliverables, decision gates, and escalation paths aligned with global governance frameworks
Ensure alignment with ASPICE, ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, and interfaces to the Engineering QMS (ISO 9001 / IATF 16949)
Maintain a single source of truth for process documentation, templates, and guidance
Define supplier process expectations and enforce structured, machine-readable deliverables
Process Change Control & Continuous Improvement
Lead the end-to-end process change control lifecycle (intake, analysis, approval, release, and effectiveness tracking)
Leverage data, analytics, and AI to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities
Maintain transparent change logs, transition plans, and training enablement
Govern updates to AI-assisted tools and methods, ensuring validation, monitoring, and compliance
Engineering Quality Assurance (Independent Oversight)
Operate an independent QA framework including artifact reviews, gate readiness checks, and adherence audits
Ensure completeness, consistency, and traceability of engineering deliverables
Consolidate audit-ready evidence in structured, traceable repositories
Enforce escalation and resolution of safety-, cybersecurity-, and quality-related deviations
Track corrective and preventive actions through closure
Deployment, Training & Enablement
Drive process adoption through onboarding, coaching, and role-based training programs
Publish standardized templates, checklists, and data models to enable consistency and scalability
Promote responsible use of AI in engineering workflows, including validation and human-in-the-loop controls
Partner with Functional Safety and Cybersecurity teams to embed required checkpoints into project plans
Monitor adoption metrics and continuously improve enablement strategies
Execution Governance & PMO Leadership
Lead the R&D Mexico PMO to standardize planning, milestone governance, and reporting across programs
Define and monitor key delivery indicators including schedule adherence, risk exposure, and quality metrics
Ensure all projects meet required process checkpoints and deliverables before gate approvals
Enable predictive risk management using analytics and AI-driven insights
Coordinate cross-program governance and ensure alignment with global expectations
AI-Enabled Governance & Automation
Establish governance frameworks for AI-assisted engineering processes, including usage policies, validation, and monitoring
Ensure audit-grade traceability of AI-generated outputs linked to engineering artifacts
Drive adoption of automation to improve efficiency in traceability, validation, and evidence generation
Measure ROI and compliance impact of AI/automation initiatives and feed insights into process improvements

Strong audit and assessment outcomes with minimal findings and rapid closure of gaps
Improved delivery performance (on-time gates, reduced rework, lower risk aging)

Measurable efficiency gains through AI-enabled automation (e.g., reduced manual effort, faster evidence packaging)
Effective integration of Functional Safety and Cybersecurity checkpoints into all relevant programs

What You Bring (Qualifications)
Required
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
10+ years of experience in engineering governance, quality, PMO, or compliance within complex product development environments (automotive or similar)
Proven experience implementing and managing Engineering QMS and leading audits/assessments at scale
Strong knowledge of ASPICE, ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, and interfaces to ISO 9001 / IATF 16949
Familiarity with Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and Cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434) frameworks
Demonstrated experience integrating automation or AI into engineering processes with appropriate controls and oversight
Preferred
Experience operating in global, multi-site R&D organizations
Familiarity with digital engineering tools, requirements management systems, and traceability platforms
Experience leading enterprise-level process transformation initiatives
Exposure to supplier quality and governance frameworks
Work Model & Travel
Location: Mexico (across all R&D sites; hybrid model aligned with business needs)
Travel: Moderate international travel to support global alignment, audits, and stakeholder engagement
