Baffinland Iron Mine Site Services Planner in NU, Canada

Mission for this Position

Reporting to the maintenance Planning Superintendent, plan and schedule Power Distribution & Site Infrastructure maintenance work, internal projects, as well as working closely with other maintenance planners on supporting timely and necessary repairs on Power Distribution assets and Site Infrastructure.

Main Accountabilities

  • Provide technical/operational input into maintenance procedures and systems to ensure operational readiness.

  • Effective and thorough capability in the utilization of SAP computerized maintenance management system.

  • Collaborate with necessary department resources to develop work scope, create accurate plans, prioritize material delivery, and schedule work based on available resources.

  • Review and prioritize maintenance work requests with other team members.

  • Create and update standard jobs (task lists) for frequent and repeat work.

  • Create and update equipment bill of materials (assemblies) for all assets.

  • Ensure accurate work order statuses as per the Baffinland Work Order Life Cycle.

  • Act as principle contact and liaison between the maintenance department and operations groups

  • Ensure maintenance service in a timely manner to ensure high equipment availability and performance.

  • Review work requests for accuracy and clarity: clear scope of work, realistic completion date, proper lead time, correct equipment identification, proper charge number (if applicable), proper authorization, and discuss details with originator of the work order.

  • Actively participate in planning and scheduling meeting with operation partners to finalize priority of work orders, optimum downtime windows, and necessary time leads.

  • Continuously improve job estimates, maintenance processes, planning, and scheduling by receiving feedback from maintenance supervisors, maintenance leads, production supervisors, engineers and production planners.

  • Compile, update, and distribute backlog reports and other mandated control reports and KPIs.

  • Create a weekly maintenance schedule and 4-week rolling plan.

  • Create and continually update maintenance programs and schedules and equipment parts lists (BOMs).

  • Coordinate and schedule maintenance contractors.

Main Qualifications

  • Red Seal Millwright Certification

  • Minimum five (5) years of maintenance planning and scheduling in facility maintenance experience

  • Proficient working knowledge of SAP computer maintenance management system

  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
