Job Title: Laboratory Operations Senior Specialist
Location: Novato, CA
Compensation: $35.00 - $43.10/hr
Schedule: 40 hours per week (hybrid position - onsite in Novato Wednesdays and Thursdays)
Type: Contract, Potential for extension or conversion to permanent
Responsibilities
Coordinate and support multiple laboratories within one or more departments, including responsibilities over warehouse areas, glassware washing, and media/buffer preparation.
Manage day-to-day laboratory operations independently, troubleshooting and problem-solving to ensure smooth laboratory functions.
Maintain excellent customer service by anticipating the needs of lab personnel, including bench scientists.
Oversee inventory management, including purchasing, storing, and allocating lab equipment and supplies.
Collaborate with engineering, facilities, suppliers, and procurement for equipment installation and process execution.
Provide guidance and direction to peers and assist managers with projects and assignments when needed.
Lead process improvements and address complex issues within a dynamic, matrixed organization.
Support department operations with responsibilities such as freezer alarm management and thaw programs.
Recognize as a subject matter expert in laboratory operations with cross-departmental impact.
Requirements
Proven experience in managing laboratory operations, ideally in a biotech or pharmaceutical environment.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve issues effectively.
Excellent customer service orientation and the ability to anticipate lab needs.
Experience with inventory management, equipment installation, and process improvement initiatives.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions and departments.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Experience in managing complex, diverse scope projects in a matrixed organization.
