ONYX Insight Senior DevOps Engineer in Nottingham, United Kingdom
The Role
We're looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join our small DevOps team. You'll be responsible for designing, operating and evolving our AWS infrastructure across both established production systems and next-generation platform services.
You'll work closely with development teams to extend and refactor Terraform modules, design secure and scalable architectures, and ensure infrastructure is production-ready, resilient and cost-efficient.
This role requires deep AWS and Terraform expertise, particularly in multi-account environments, as well as experience operating business-critical production systems
Key Responsibilities:
Build, extend and refactor Terraform modules for multi-account AWS infrastructure
Design and deploy secure, scalable architecture for new and existing products
Operate and improve containerised workloads on ECS/Fargate
Maintain and enhance EC2/Linux-based production systems
Support data-heavy workloads using S3 and related AWS services
Strengthen IAM design, networking boundaries and security controls
Improve observability, alerting and operational readiness
Contribute to incident response processes and reliability practices
Integrate Terraform and infrastructure changes into GitLab CI/CD pipelines
Keep cost optimisation and data transfer considerations in mind
Ideally, you'll have/be:
5+ years hands-on DevOps / cloud infrastructure experience
Strong experience delivering AWS infrastructure at scale (multi-account)
Expert-level Terraform skills, including module design and state management
Strong understanding of AWS networking, IAM and security design
Experience operating production systems in security-conscious environments
Linux and scripting experience (Bash or Python)
Experience supporting data-intensive workloads
Proven ability to work independently in a small, high-ownership team
