Title: *Medical Assistant Team Lead - NHMP Norwalk Gastroenterology - Norwalk, CT. Full time/40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts, 8:30am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.Summary:* Works with the clinical staff, physicians, and advanced practitioners in the coordination of assigned staff, equipment and resources to facilitate smooth daily operational flow. Optimize patient care and assist the assigned staff in their daily work processes. Span of Control to include assisting practice management in the coordination of daily activities of the medical assistants.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care duties: greets and escorts patients back from waiting room to clinical areas. Performs all necessary intake activities and documents appropriate information including vital signs, current medications and allergies, verifies EMR reflects current PCP, appropriate referring clinician, and preferred pharmacy, etc. Assures the patient is properly prepared for the scheduled visit to maintain timely patient flow. This includes assisting patients into gowns, having clinical paperwork, any needed supplies and educational materials immediately available for the clinician use.
Transcribes and updates patient information in the patient record. Transposes medication history, social and medical history as reported by the patient from the intake forms.
Monitors ERx and Clinical pools. Escalates backlogs to practice management attention.
Assists with coordination of further patient care and follow-up and carry out tasks as directed by Nurse and/or physician/practice administrator. This may include communication with patient, hospital, labs, imaging centers, pharmacies, physician offices, insurance plans.
Conducts in-office testing as directed by the provider. Monitors logs, controls completed as indicated. Coordinates testing and outside ancillary services as applicable. Reviews instructions for upcoming procedures and tests as applicable.
Monitors inventory and orders medical supplies as needed, as well as follow up on all outstanding orders.
Creates daily medical assistant staffing schedule for support of all providers and offsite locations.
Provides position specific feedback based upon knowledge of medical assistant role to assist practice management in evaluating workflows for efficiency, effectiveness, and impact on patient, provider, and staff satisfaction.
In collaboration with Nurse Educators and practice nursing management, mentors, orients, trains, and educates medical assistants to improve competency and patient satisfaction using established workflows and policies.
Monitors all clinical workflows of office related to Medical Assistant duties and addresses inefficiency of teams with practice management. Suggests plans to correct inefficient or suboptimal medical assistant workflows. Holds daily medical assistant huddles to ensure smooth operations of the daily schedule.
In collaboration with practice nursing leadership, utilizes patient satisfaction data to assist with implementation of targeted improvement plans.

Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
Performs other duties as required.
Other Information:
Required:High School Diploma or GED. New or experienced graduate of Medical Assistant program, or Nursing Assistant training program, or EMT certification, or 3 years job related experience in a medical office. Basic medical knowledge and terminology. Skilled in obtaining accurate patient vital signs.
Minimum Experience: One year
Desired: CPR certification preferred. Bi-lingual preferred.Salary Range: $20.70 - $31.36 Hourly
