Construction Supervisor – Fiber (Direct Placement)

Location: Northville, MI

Schedule: 50 hours per week

Compensation: $65,000–$75,000

Employment Type: Direct Placement

Overview

We are partnering with a client that is seeking an experienced Construction Supervisor to support fiber‑to‑the‑home (FTTH) projects. This role oversees both underground and aerial fiber construction, managing internal crews and multiple subcontractor teams while ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Key ResponsibilitiesField & Crew Oversight

  • Supervise 1 internal crew along with 3–4 subcontractor teams (typically 3–5 teams total)

  • Coordinate daily activities for underground trenching and aerial fiber installation

  • Oversee subcontractors using Vermeer trenchers and bucket trucks

Print & Build Management

  • Review and interpret underground and aerial construction prints

  • Ensure work aligns with engineering designs, permits, and build specifications

  • Monitor construction near:

  • Water lines

  • High‑voltage utilities

  • Live telecommunications networks

Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce jobsite safety standards with a strong focus on:

  • Working around live fiber networks

  • Dig safety, utility locates, and potholing

  • High‑voltage and underground hazard awareness

  • Conduct safety meetings, audits, and corrective actions as needed

Project Execution

  • Drive projects to completion on schedule and under budget

  • Track labor, materials, and overall productivity

  • Troubleshoot issues in real time and ensure all punch‑list items are resolved

  • Take ownership of post‑construction repairs, damages, and quality issues

Communication & Reporting

  • Serve as the main point of contact between:

  • Internal operations teams

  • Subcontractors

  • Utility owners

  • Clearly document progress, challenges, and resolutions

Ideal Experience

  • Previous experience supervising fiber construction or telecom infrastructure projects

  • Strong understanding of FTTH builds

  • Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors simultaneously

  • Experience with both underground and aerial fiber construction

  • Comfortable working in high‑risk environments (utilities, live networks)

  • Strong problem‑solving, accountability, and leadership skills

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Northville, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
