Robert Half Category Manager in Northrbrook, Illinois
Description We are looking for an experienced Category Manager to lead and oversee the global technology procurement portfolio, including enterprise software, hardware, communication platforms, and IT services. In this long-term contract role, you will work closely with stakeholders and suppliers to optimize sourcing strategies, negotiate agreements, and ensure the successful execution of procurement initiatives. Based in Northbrook, Illinois, this position offers an exciting opportunity to drive value and efficiency across a dynamic and evolving organization.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the global technology procurement portfolio, including software, hardware, communication platforms, and managed services.
• Manage all aspects of IT sourcing processes, from RFx development to contract negotiation and legal agreement execution for new purchases and renewals.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure high service levels while securing favorable commercial terms.
• Collaborate with key internal stakeholders, such as IT, Finance, Legal, and Cybersecurity, to align procurement strategies with business objectives.
• Lead supplier selection processes, consolidating buying power and rationalizing suppliers to create a streamlined procurement ecosystem.
• Drive process improvements and implement tools to enhance sourcing efficiency and effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with global sourcing policies and provide guidance on governance and approval processes.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and business units, offering strategic sourcing expertise.
• Analyze spend data to identify opportunities for cost savings and improved procurement strategies.
• Execute key sourcing initiatives to deliver value while managing risk effectively. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT sourcing, including software, hardware, and detail-oriented services.
• Proven expertise in negotiating contracts with major vendors such as Oracle, Salesforce, Microsoft, and ServiceNow.
• Strong knowledge of commercial contracting practices and sourcing methodologies.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present to C-level executives and collaborate across teams.
• Demonstrated ability to achieve significant cost savings through effective sourcing strategies.
• Proficiency in analyzing spend data and aligning procurement practices with business goals.
