Description
The Peer Recovery Specialist completes the initial Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) screening for individuals in a community setting and provides introduction to program. Provides support to individuals from a mental health lived experience perspective in both individual and group formats. Able to utilize the Wellness and Recovery Action Plan model. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to any age-related needs of the consumers served. He or she must be able to assess and interpret data about the consumer's status in order to identify each consumer's needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, needed by the consumer group.
The Peer Recovery Specialist uses the Wellness and Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) model and other evidence-informed tools to support participants in building coping skills, navigating reentry, and connecting to services. The ideal candidate demonstrates empathy, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to support clients of all ages in a culturally competent and recovery-focused manner.
Hours:
This position is Full Time, Monday – Friday, with some evening and weekend hours required.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred
Lived experience with mental health or substance use recovery and involvement with the justice system required
Certified Peer Specialist credential preferred; must be willing to obtain certification within 6 months of hire if not already certified
Experience providing peer support or working with justice-involved populations preferred
Familiarity with the WRAP model and recovery principles
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
