Purpose & Scope
The Head, Non-Promotional Platforms & Processes is responsible for providing the single voice representing field medical platform requirements worldwide and must be an expert both within the field medical function as well as across the various technology platforms to ensure that the tools available to Astellas field medical personnel are fit for purpose to meet local business needs. The primary focus will be to drive continuous improvement that enables field medical personnel to deliver best-in-class external scientific engagements and to ensure an integrated approach to drive high impact solutions with effective deployment of changes. Understanding industry best practices is critical, as well as emerging technology while applying local regulatory requirements to create a scalable and sustainable global framework that delivers quality and value to both internal and external stakeholders.
Role and Responsibilities
Platform & Governance Development
Possess and maintain subject matter expertise within both Medical Affairs/Field Medical functional area, technology platforms, and underlying data structure leveraged by field medical personnel in order to effectively distil various local business needs into sustainable and scalable global solutions as the business process owner (BPO) for Global Field Medical processes
Define and prioritize user requirements for and continuously improve upon suite of global field medical business processes and corresponding technology platforms and integrations required to drive data-driven, targeted scientific exchange based on customer preferences (e.g. SOPs, Customer Relationship Management [CRM], Territory/Account Mapping, Next Best Engagement [NBE], Customer Intelligence, Master Data Management [MDM], Data Visualization/Dashboards, etc.)
Co-lead cross-functional value team alongside Customer Engagement Excellence, DigitalX, and other counterparts to develop enterprise field solutions beyond Medical Affairs, as applicable
Leadership
Serve as a member on the Medical Affairs Excellence to establish and maintain high-quality standards and ensure consistent, compliant implementation worldwide
Lead team of 1-4 direct or matrixed reports who are responsible for supporting regional/affiliate instances of field medical platforms (e.g., CRM Orgs, Dashboards) and for serving as the single point of contact (SPoC) for local end users within the respective regions/affiliates they support
Conduct annual and mid-year performance reviews with direct reports and participate in talent assessment and development; provide written and verbal feedback to ensure a productive, professional and motivated work group and a highly valued work environment
Change Management
- Contribute to and/or lead development of enduring materials and programs (e.g. live sessions, LMS modules, work aids, etc.) in collaboration with Training teams to optimize end user onboarding and adoption of new and existing field medical processes and platforms
Cross-functional Collaboration
Partner with relevant Medical Affairs and other cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. DigitalX, Customer Engagement Excellence, Value Delivery/Commercial, Pharmacovigilance, Legal, Ethics & Compliance, Data Privacy, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, etc.) to align on deliverables impacting their respective areas
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Health-Related Sciences or Business/Management
Minimum of 7 years in healthcare industry with at least 5 years in Medical Affairs and/or Field Medical
Excellent understanding of field medical platforms (e.g. Veeva suite of products including CRM, Vault MedComms, CLM, Link, Workflow, etc.), dashboards, analytics, and underlying data structures
Excellent understanding of legal/regulatory/compliance requirements and guidelines with respect to field medical in the pharmaceutical industry
Ability to recognize and anticipate problems and create and manage complex projects
Ability to negotiate with multiple stakeholders simultaneously and work within ambiguity
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Breath of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities, including the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and deliver impactful value
Flexibility to travel 20% of the time, including potentially international travel
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Health-Related Sciences, Computer Science, or Business Administration (e.g. MD, PharmD, PhD in Health-Related Sciences or MBA)
Personnel management and/or group/team leader experience
Experience in working in cross-functional Agile teams
Experience working in a global setting
Business Process Owner/System Owner experience
Field Medical/Medical Science Liaison (MSL) experience
Location and Working Environment
This position is based in Northbrook, Illinois. Remote work from anywhere in the US is available.

Salary Range
$189,259-$270,370 (Final compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience and organizational equity considerations)
