Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Job Description

The Maintenance Technician performs preventive and reactive maintenance on flavoring machinery and facility equipment in a clean, GMP-regulated food processing environment. This role works closely with other maintenance technicians and specialists to keep production lines running safely and efficiently by servicing dry blend, spraying, reactor, extractor, and compounding machines, as well as general facility systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on production and facility equipment according to company manuals and established schedules.

  • Diagnose and repair production equipment using mechanical and electrical knowledge, printed repair manuals, and schematics.

  • Work on flavoring production equipment including dry blend, spraying, reactors, extractors, and compounding machines to minimize downtime.

  • Support equipment changeovers and assist in replacing or installing production machinery as needed.

  • Troubleshoot and repair systems involving pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical components up to 480 volts.

  • Service and maintain single-phase and three-phase motors used in the production environment.

  • Perform maintenance tasks on HVAC systems within the food processing facility.

  • Apply lockout/tagout procedures consistently to ensure safety during maintenance activities in the food industry environment.

  • Maintain a neat, organized, and safe workplace and maintenance shop at all times.

  • Maintain the building and grounds to meet the standards set by facility management.

  • Monitor, organize, and maintain inventory of tools and maintenance-related supplies.

  • Follow all safety and regulatory requirements for the operational area being serviced or repaired.

  • Work in compliance with GMP, HACCP, Allergen, SSOP, and safety guidelines at all times.

  • Document maintenance activities as required and communicate equipment issues or improvement opportunities to management.

  • Perform other maintenance and facility-related duties as assigned by management.

  • Collaborate with an 8-person maintenance team to support production goals and ensure equipment reliability.

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail to support product quality and regulatory compliance.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Proven experience working with pneumatic systems in an industrial setting.

  • Proven experience working with hydraulic systems in an industrial setting.

  • Hands-on experience working with voltages up to 480 volts.

  • Experience working on single-phase and three-phase motors.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical and mechanical schematics.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in mechanical maintenance and repair.

  • Experience performing preventive maintenance on industrial equipment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues.

  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout procedures in an industrial or food production environment.

  • Ability to work with both mechanical and electrical tasks, approximately 50% mechanical and 50% electrical.

  • Knowledge of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) in a production setting.

  • Ability to work effectively on a maintenance team and communicate clearly with production and management.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Northbrook, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
