How you’ll make an impact in this role

Ascension St. Vincent is looking for an Internal Medicine Physician to serve the Jennings County community.

Position Highlights:

  • Join practice of 4 physicians and 4 APPs serving adult patients within Jennings County

  • Schedule is Monday - Friday within the primary care clinic

  • On-call requirements include 1 in 4 weekend shifts at Ascension St. Vincent Jennings Critical Access Hospital, which is comprised of 18 beds and 4 swing beds

  • Rounding is once every 24 hour period and physician must be available by phone for the remainder of the shift

Responsibilities:

  • Provide medical services to patients in an assigned area.

  • Evaluate and treat patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Coordinatedischarge planning with case management.

  • Recommend, participate in, and work to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.

  • Accept patient referrals from other physicians. Act as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.

  • Participate in academic programs (eg medical education and research) as requested.

  • Provide appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.

  • Participate in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Physician MD/DO credentialed from the Indiana Medical Licensing Board obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

  • Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required.
