Job Description Summary

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer to join our global engineering organisation and contribute technical leadership across complex projects in rail, renewable energy, utilities, and power systems.

In this role, you will act as a technical design authority, working collaboratively with project teams, customers, suppliers, and global engineering partners to develop and deliver electrical systems and balance of plant solutions for Power Conversion and Storage projects across Australia and the region.

This role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys combining deep technical expertise with collaboration, mentoring, and practical problem solving.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Provide technical leadership and design authority for electrical systems across assigned projects and programs

  • Lead and coordinate the design of electrical balance‑of‑plant systems, including LV/HV equipment, protection and control, cabling, grounding, layouts, and control buildings

  • Develop, review, and approve engineering studies, drawings, specifications, and analyses for power systems and supporting equipment

  • Ensure designs meet applicable safety, regulatory, and industry standards

  • Act as a trusted technical point of contact for customers and internal teams

  • Support commissioning activities and help resolve technical issues during project delivery

  • Collaborate with project, sourcing, and quality teams to meet delivery, cost, and performance objectives

  • Participate in and lead design reviews, contributing to quality assurance activities

  • Drive continuous improvement through standardisation, root cause analysis, and process enhancement

  • Support the development of others through mentoring and knowledge sharing

What You’ll Bring

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation Engineering, or a diploma combined with relevant industry experience

  • 10–15 years’ experience in rail, power, utilities, renewables, or energy storage projects

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems and power conversion technologies

  • Experience providing technical leadership or acting as a design authority on complex projects

  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulatory frameworks

  • Ability to develop, review, and interpret technical documentation and specifications

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams

  • A customer‑focused approach with commercial awareness

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required

Experience That Will Set You Apart

  • Power system studies and analysis (e.g. load flow, fault studies, protection coordination, harmonics, EMC, voltage drop)

  • Experience working in matrix organisations and with geographically distributed teams

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a project‑based environment

  • Strong problem‑solving, organisational, and documentation skills
