About the role
The Procurement Team Lead is responsible for sourcing and negotiating the purchasing prices for raw materials, goods and services that meet the company\u2019s manufacturing and operational requirements. This includes managing supplier relationships, ensuring cost-effectiveness procurement practices while maintaining quality and compliance standards. They are also responsible for directly managing Purchasing Officers.
What You\u2019ll Do
Strategic Procurement
Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with overall business goals.
Monitor market trends and adjust procurement plans to maintain competitiveness and supply continuity.
Identify continuous improvement opportunities to enhance procurement processes and supplier collaboration.
Track and report productivity improvements through cost\u2011saving initiatives.
Supplier Management
Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, safety, service, and reliability.
Lead RFP and tender processes for high\u2011value or strategic spend categories.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, terms, and service levels with vendors.
Manage supplier performance, resolve issues, and conduct quarterly reviews for key suppliers.
Maintain strong relationships with suppliers while upholding Smurfit WestRock\u2019s values of Safety, Loyalty, Integrity, and Respect.
Operational Procurement
Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, contracts, and supplier data.
Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and ethical standards.
Monitor budgets and track procurement expenses to support financial control.
Assess and mitigate supply chain risks to ensure continuity of critical materials and services.
Cross\u2011Functional Collaboration
Work closely with internal departments to understand procurement needs and support operational requirements.
Prepare procurement reports and analysis for APAC Cost Steering Group meetings.
What You\u2019ll bring
Bachelor or Diploma or Procurement or Supply Chain Management or significant experience in lieu of.
5+ years\u2019 experience in Procurement
People Management
Strong Excel skills
Problem solving skills
Ability to stick to strict deadlines
An ability to prioritise
Able to interact directly with suppliers when required
