Actalent AutoCAD 2D Drafter (Industrial/Deployment) in North Reading, Massachusetts

  • PAY: $30-38 an hour depending on experience

  • SCHEDULE: Remote ability. On-Site is preferred. 9-5PM M-F. EST is preferred if remote.

  • DURATION: 12 months (conversion is possible)

Role Overview

The CAD Technician will be responsible for taking completed CAD designs from the Solutions team and preparing them for deployment and construction. This role focuses exclusively on AutoCAD (2D) and supports deployment, installation, and integration efforts by producing accurate, field-ready drawing packages. This team supports solution deployment efforts by delivering CAD drawings and mapping documentation used directly by field teams. The drawings produced in this role are critical tools for deployment, installation, and integration and are actively accessed and updated throughout project lifecycles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use AutoCAD exclusively to prepare deployment-ready drawings

  • Receive completed CAD designs and clean up files to ensure accuracy and eliminate interferences

  • Organize and manage layers to support deployment and construction needs

  • Format drawings for construction and field execution

  • Pull components from existing libraries, modify as needed, and place accurately within designs

  • Create and maintain detailed “MAPS” and drawings that serve as live documents for field teams

  • Collaborate with field and deployment teams to ensure drawings meet real-world installation needs

  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders to gather feedback and incorporate updates

MUST HAVES:

  • Minimum Associate’s degree in Drafting, Design, or a related field

  • Candidates without a degree may be considered with relevant experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on AutoCAD experience, including strong layer management skills

  • Experience producing detailed 2D drawings

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical partners

NICE TO HAVES:

  • Experience working in warehouse, fulfillment center, or industrial environments

  • Conveyor layout or material handling system experience

  • Familiarity with construction design standards

  • Experience managing design revisions

  • Mechanical or Industrial Engineering bckgrnd

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of North Reading, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.64 - $37.64/hr.
