    Minimum Requirements:

    NYS Teaching Certification in Special Education

    Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students with disabilities required; experience working with students with autism/behavioral disabilities preferred

  • Working knowledge of conflict resolution required

  • Must be a proactive team player and problem solver

  • Able to maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills

  • Ability to effectively use technology

    Position Summary/Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver specially designed instruction to students with disabilities

  • Implement and progress-monitor student Individualization Education Programs (IEP)

  • Collaborate with related service providers on a regular basis to share student progress and address concerns

  • Communicate with families on a regular basis to share student progress and address concerns

  • Develop students' IEPs and participate in Committee for Special Education meetings

  • Collect and analyze student data for purposes of instructional planning and progress reporting via IEP progress notes and report card

  • Administer formative and summative assessments for purposes of instructional planning and progress monitoring

  • Provide direction and guidance to support staff working in the classroom

  • Participate in staff meetings and professional learning communities as well as engage in professional learning opportunities
