Minimum Requirements:
NYS Teaching Certification in Special Education
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working with students with disabilities required; experience working with students with autism/behavioral disabilities preferred
Working knowledge of conflict resolution required
Must be a proactive team player and problem solver
Able to maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
Ability to effectively use technology
Position Summary/Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver specially designed instruction to students with disabilities
Implement and progress-monitor student Individualization Education Programs (IEP)
Collaborate with related service providers on a regular basis to share student progress and address concerns
Communicate with families on a regular basis to share student progress and address concerns
Develop students' IEPs and participate in Committee for Special Education meetings
Collect and analyze student data for purposes of instructional planning and progress reporting via IEP progress notes and report card
Administer formative and summative assessments for purposes of instructional planning and progress monitoring
Provide direction and guidance to support staff working in the classroom
Participate in staff meetings and professional learning communities as well as engage in professional learning opportunities
