Minimum Requirements:
Current GTA Member
Prior experience in musical theater
Desired Qualifications:
Prior experience in vocal coaching and conducting musical theater, preferably in a middle/high school or collegiate setting.
A deep understanding of the developing voice, including safe vocal health practices and the ability to teach complex harmonies to young singers.
Ability to work seamlessly with the Director and Choreographer to integrate music into staging and movement.
A commitment to teaching students the fundamentals of breath support, diction, and musical expression.
Position Summary/Responsibilities:
Odyssey Academy is seeking a highly skilled and collaborative Vocal Music Director to lead the musical preparation for our 20262027 production. The Vocal Music Director is responsible for the musical integrity of the show, working with student performers to master vocal technique, harmonies, and storytelling through song. We are looking for a dedicated educator-artist who can achieve professional-level musical results while fostering a confident, healthy, and supportive singing environment for students of all experience levels.
Must be available beginning in December 2026 for vocal auditions and casting consultations, as well as for after-school, evening, and weekend rehearsals.
Must be available for tech week beginning in early February 2027, and performances the weekend of February 1921, 2027.
Teach and rehearse all vocal material for the production, including solos, small groups, and full ensemble numbers.
Lead vocal-specific rehearsals and collaborate during full-cast runs to ensure musical precision and balance.
Work closely with the Director to ensure the vocal delivery aligns with the character development and the overall vision of the show.
Coordinate with the pit orchestra (if applicable) or manage digital orchestrations to ensure a high-quality auditory experience.
Provide individual feedback to student leads to build their vocal stamina and confidence for a multi-performance run.
Maintain accurate attendance for vocal calls and coordinate with the Director on any music-related budgetary needs or licensing requirements.
