Service Station Equipment, Inc. Lead Mechanic in North Franklin, Connecticut
*LEAD MECHANIC - Diesel Truck and Heavy Equipment Mechanic *This position is responsible for both supervising shop staff and actively performing the inspection, maintenance, and repair of our fleet of trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations. The ideal candidate will lead by example, working alongside the team while providing guidance and oversight. Extensive experience in diesel engine diagnostics, repair, and preventative maintenance is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel trucks, trailers, Petroleum Tankers and heavy equipment, including, loaders, and excavators.
- Handle hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting, brake and clutch repairs, cylinder rebuilds, and light fabrication work.
- Supervise shop staff, assign tasks, and ensure repair quality and safety compliance.
- Schedule, prioritize, and perform preventative maintenance for optimal fleet uptime.
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection logs, and parts inventory.
- Communicate repair needs with field crews, dispatch, and operations managers.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety protocols.
