APPT. TYPE: PROBATIONARY, FULL TIME

STARTING DATE: ASAP

CLASSIFICATION: Non-Competitive Civil Service

QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of training and experience sufficient to indicate ability to do the work. Must meet Civil Service requirements in job title. Teacher Aides may be required to provide personal care to students including toileting. Lifting may be involved. Aides may be working in life skills classrooms, job coaching or with special needs students. Reports to the Building Principal or the Director of Student Services.

SALARY RANGE: $17.29- $19.77/hr.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work collaboratively with classroom teachers

• Flexibility to work with students and adults in different classrooms

• Takes initiative

• Helps teacher prepare and set up

• Reinforce lessons and provide students assistance

• Enforce classroom rules

• Enforce school rules outside the classroom, which may include bus duty and cafeteria duty

• Help to meet the needs of all students

• Work in several classrooms throughout the day

• Other responsibilities as directed by the Building Principal or his/her designee

• Eager and able to work well among a team of professionals

• Flexible with assignments and changing roles to meet building and student needs

• Strong communication to best support students

• Willingness to learn new tasks
