Actalent Pharmacy Technician III in North Chicago, Illinois

Job Title: Pharmacy Technician IIIJob Description

The Pharmacy Technician III position supports pharmacists in entering, processing, and managing drug therapy orders, interpreting and dispensing prescriptions, and maintaining patient and pharmacy records. The role also involves collaboration with Leads and other personnel to resolve issues and complete project tasks. A subject matter expert in all pharmacy operations is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the pharmacist with pharmacy practice in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, HIPAA guidelines, and corporate policies by interpreting prescription orders, entering them into the core pharmacy system, and notifying physicians of any incomplete or incorrect information.

  • Obtain accurate verbal orders for product replacement and missing prescription information from healthcare providers. Manage patient adherence and schedule medication deliveries according to Pharmacy Solutions guidelines.

  • Help patients with treatment compliance by entering/updating current medications, allergies, and medical conditions, and triaging calls to Nursing and Pharmacists as necessary.

  • Use internal and web tools to communicate with health insurance payors and providers to investigate benefits and verify prescription coverage.

  • Recommend process and system improvements to increase efficiency and productivity in pharmacy operations.

  • Interact professionally with internal and external teams to ensure accurate service provision to patients.

  • Collaborate with necessary personnel to determine objectives and support changing business priorities by executing specific tasks, such as handling inbound/outbound calls, prioritizing work, organizing, and performing testing as required.

  • Maintain current Illinois Certified Pharmacy Technician licensure and fulfill continuing education requirements.

Essential Skills

  • Pharmacy technician certification and license.

  • 3-5 years of experience in a Specialty Pharmacy, Retail/Mail Order Pharmacy, PBM, or healthcare provider setting.

  • Familiarity with medical record handling, prescription data entry, customer service, and inter-professional communication.

  • Strong knowledge of core insurance (Medical and Pharmacy benefit) and online verification systems.

  • Attention to detail and decision-making skills.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency in data entry and Microsoft Word or Excel.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to work flexibly between 7am and 7pm.

  • Strong collaborative and cross-functional skills.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, onsite position at the North Chicago headquarters, which includes a pharmacy space. The work schedule requires flexibility between the hours of 7am and 7pm.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of North Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
