Job Description

The Chemistry Analyst performs environmental laboratory analyses on a variety of sample matrices using established analytical methods. This role works within a robust Quality Assurance framework, following Standard Operating Procedures and applicable regulatory requirements to generate accurate analytical data, maintain equipment reliability, and support overall laboratory operations. The position is full time, averaging 35 to 40 hours per week, with the need for flexibility to work overtime and occasional weekends based on business demands. Responsibilities

  • Perform routine environmental laboratory analyses on a variety of sample matrices using approved methods, procedures, and instrument programs.

  • Prepare and analyze metals samples using standard analytical techniques and ensure adherence to method requirements.

  • Follow all laboratory Standard Operating Procedures and internal policies to maintain data integrity and regulatory compliance.

  • Calculate analytical data accurately and enter results into the laboratory information management system in a timely and precise manner.

  • Record, evaluate, and report analytical data, including any atypical results or test deviations, to the Technical Manager or designated technical lead.

  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and equipment, and document all maintenance activities according to laboratory protocols.

  • Verify that all analytical instruments and supporting equipment are functioning properly and within specification prior to use.

  • Conduct required quality control and quality assurance checks in accordance with established laboratory QA/QC practices and regulatory expectations.

  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemical waste in compliance with EPA regulations and internal safety procedures.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area that supports efficient laboratory operations and minimizes risk of contamination or error.

  • Effectively organize and prioritize daily workload to meet required turnaround times, production goals, and client expectations.

  • Collaborate with other laboratory staff to support team-based operations and assist colleagues as needed during high-volume periods.

  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying potential process enhancements and communicating observations to leadership.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency with complex analytical instrumentation, including Flame Atomic Absorption (FLAA), Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) instruments, mercury analyzers, and instrument-specific data systems.

  • Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to data accuracy, quality control, and regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to work independently while actively contributing to team-based laboratory operations in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related science field, or a minimum of 12 college credits in chemistry or another related science discipline.

  • Minimum of two years of laboratory experience, preferably in an environmental or production-oriented setting.

  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet time-sensitive deadlines in a production-focused laboratory.

  • Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control practices in a laboratory environment.

  • Ability to follow written procedures precisely and document work clearly and accurately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous production-oriented laboratory experience with demonstrated awareness of turnaround times and productivity expectations.

  • Experience with AIHA metals or industrial hygiene testing is preferred.

  • Experience working with a laboratory information management system (LIMS) is beneficial.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy.

  • Effective communication skills to report results, deviations, and instrument issues clearly to technical leadership.

Work Environment

This is a full-time laboratory position averaging 35 to 40 hours per week, with the expectation of overtime and occasional weekend work as business needs require. The Chemistry Analyst works alongside approximately nine other laboratory technicians in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment. Deliveries typically arrive in the morning, and the team spends the day processing and analyzing those orders to meet strict turnaround times. The laboratory uses advanced analytical technologies, including FLAA, ICP, mercury analyzers, and associated data systems, within a structured Quality Assurance and Standard Operating Procedure framework. The work environment emphasizes safety, organization, and cleanliness, with strict adherence to proper handling and disposal of chemical waste in compliance with EPA regulations. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45000.00 - $50000.00/yr.

Candidate will receive full benefits from SanAir.
