Tourists Maintenance Technician in North Adams, Massachusetts

TOURISTS is looking for a full-time, General Maintenance Technician to join our team. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, ambitious, and engaged. We are offering \$22.00-\$24.00 per hour, based on experience, plus a wide array of benefits included for full-time staff (detailed below). TOURISTS is a 46-room boutique lifestyle hotel in North Adams, MA, situated on a 70-acre nature campus just down the road from MASS MoCA and the Clark Art Institute. Responsibilities - Maintain all property components including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, life safety, doors, windows, flooring, and roof systems - Communicate with the Front Desk and Maintenance Manager regarding grounds and/or maintenance needs - Have an understanding of all maintenance schedules (i.e. landscape lighting, sprinkler systems, pool temperature) - Perform, manage and implement maintenance projects as they are assigned - Respond to emergency needs regarding grounds and/or maintenance during evening hours - Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos and verbal instruction - Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area - Weekend availability (at least one day) required - Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition - Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property - Keep abreast of safety and emergency procedures and OSHA requirements Benefits - High quality health and dental insurance is offered through Blue Cross Blue Shield to all full-time employees with a competitive employer contribution - Reimbursement for healthy habits and fitness goals - 80 hours of Paid Time Off per year is offered to all full-time employees after completing 6 months of employment - 80 hours of Parental Leave is available for time off to spend with new children - Paid holidays - 401(k) through Guideline - Hotel and dining discounts for all employees - Continuing education and professional development opportunities Qualifications & Competencies - Valid Drivers License - required - Evening availability preferred - Weekend availability - High School diploma or general education degree (GED) - Two (2) years related experience in a similar role - Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals - Ability to write routine reports and correspondence - Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and sister property staff - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word - Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e. Property Management System) - Ability to apply concepts of math including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, algebra and geometry, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. *Working Conditions/Environment - The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate - The person in this position may have to lift up to 50 pounds on a daily basis. Any lift over 50 lbs is deemed a two-person lift. - The person having this position may have to sit for one (1) hour, stand and/or walk, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for eight (8) hours per day - This position requires exposure to the climate variations in all seasons in delivery of maintenance to external property and groundskeeping*
