Job Title: Remote Systems Architect
Job Description:
The Systems Architect designs and defines the architecture for new and existing complex computer systems, ensuring they are secure, efficient, and aligned with organizational needs. This role determines system specifications, defines input and output processes, and sets working parameters to ensure hardware and software compatibility and the maintenance of system security. The Systems Architect also coordinates the design of subsystems, oversees the integration of the total system, and provides technical guidance to other technical professionals as needed.
Responsibilities:
Design and define system architectures for new and existing complex computer systems.
Determine system specifications, including performance, capacity, and security requirements.
Define and document input and output processes and working parameters for hardware and software components.
Ensure hardware and software compatibility across the full system environment.
Maintain and enhance system security through architectural decisions and standards.
Coordinate the design of subsystems and ensure their seamless integration into the total system.
Identify, analyze, and resolve program support deficiencies and system-level issues.
Develop and recommend corrective actions to address system problems and improve performance.
Optimize system processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and maintainability.
Collaborate with database administrators and software developers, providing technical guidance when needed.
Support process development and system integration initiatives across the organization.
Essential Skills:
US citizenship.
Bachelor’s degree and 9 years of experience, or Master’s degree and 7 years of experience.
In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, 4 years of related exempt experience may be substituted.
In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, 8 years of non-related exempt experience may be substituted.
Proven experience in designing and defining architecture for complex computer systems.
Strong background in system integration, including coordinating multiple subsystems into a cohesive solution.
Demonstrated ability in process optimization within system and software environments.
Experience in process development related to system architecture and implementation.
Ability to determine system specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware and software.
Experience maintaining and enhancing system security through architectural design.
Strong analytical skills to identify, analyze, and resolve program support deficiencies.
Ability to develop and recommend effective corrective actions for system issues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
Experience providing technical guidance to database administrators and software developers.
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional technical teams.
Ability to document architectures, specifications, and processes clearly and comprehensively.
Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing complex technical responsibilities.
Work Environment:
This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from your preferred location while collaborating with distributed technical teams.
You will work in a primarily digital environment, using online communication and collaboration tools to design, document, and review complex system architectures.
The role emphasizes independent work, proactive communication, and effective coordination with other remote team members.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Norfolk, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $72.00/hr.
