Operations Technician
Full-Time | Rotating 12‑Hour Shifts (Days & Nights)
Must be willing and able to work a 6‑week rotating schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and safety‑focused Operations Technician to support the operation and maintenance of mechanical sampling equipment across multiple U.S. bulk terminals. This position plays a vital role in ensuring high equipment uptime, system performance, and accurate sampling results.
Key Responsibilities
Clean interior and exterior components of mechanical sampling systems using compressed air, water, and hand/power tools.
Remove material buildup, soil, or spills from equipment, walkways, platforms, grounds, offices, tools, and vehicles.
Frequently observe mechanical sampling systems (MSS) and mechanical part‑stream samplers (MPS) during operation and downtime to monitor condition and performance.
Record and evaluate sample ratio data, including weights, tonnages, loading sequences, equipment parameters, and sample identification tags.
Safely and correctly apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Perform accurate data entry using Microsoft Excel, Word, and basic calculation tools.
Work in a rotating 24/7 shift environment with overtime as required.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with machine operation, quality testing, or mechanical equipment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Comfort working outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and precipitation.
⭐ Shift Requirements (Very Important)
This position requires a rotating 12‑hour shift schedule after the training period. Candidates must be fully able and willing to work:
Training Schedule (approx. 90 days)
Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Rotating 6‑Week Cycle (After Training):
Days – Front Half: Sun–Wed | 7 AM–7 PM
Days – Back Half: Wed–Sat | 7 AM–7 PM
Nights – Back Half: Wed–Sat | 7 PM–7 AM
Nights – Front Half: Sun–Wed | 7 PM–7 AM
The cycle repeats continuously.
This schedule provides built‑in extended time off while supporting 24/7 terminal operations.

Work Environment
This role requires outdoor work in all seasons, including high and low temperatures. Employees will regularly walk, stand, climb stairs/ladders, and navigate sloped walkways. Work may involve exposure to dust, noise, and industrial equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
