Title: (NEX NORFOLK) FOOD SERVICE WORKER (MOBILE FOOD TRUCK) Location: United States-Virginia-Norfolk Job Number: 26000155 Job Summary: In accordance with daily responsibilities, prepares and sells a variety of cook to order predetermined food menu items on a mobile food truck at prescribed Navy Exchange and Navy base locations. May stock, store and prepare food items and equipment at a storage or hub facility. Duties and Responsibilities: Prepares and sells a variable but limited variety of to order hot and cold food and beverage items for both breakfast and lunch services, such as breakfast sandwiches, danish, fruit, frankfurters, cheeseburgers, quesadillas, chicken and pork BBQ sandwiches, French fries, etc. involving the operation of a grill, microwave oven, convection oven and/ or deep fryer primarily on a mobile food truck. Receives/takes orders and serves customers, ensuring that standard prices and portions are applied and a clearly visible price list/menu board available to customers. Operates cash register and follows all NEX cash handing policies and procedures. Loads food service canteen truck and hub storage facility with food and beverages. Drives to various locations according to a previously established schedule and route on and off installation. Ensures that prescribed routes are followed and that scheduled stops are made on a timely basis. May be assigned to a commercial kitchen operated by the NEX that will contain stored, prepared and packaged food items to be cooked on the mobile food truck or sold at NEX locations. May prepare a variety of cold sandwiches to be sold. Slices meats and cheese into prescribed portions following established procedures. Wraps sandwiches utilizing an automatic sandwich wrapper. Prepares requisition for supplies, equipment, daily resale and consumable items; keeps supplies neatly displayed and stowed, maintaining adequate stock at all times. Maintains inventory and operation records and prepares required reports. Observes traffic safety requirements and regulations. Adheres to Navy Exchange Customer Service standards by maintaining a neat, clean appearance and wearing appropriate uniform and name tag as required. Exercises tact, good manners and courtesy when serving and assisting customers; suggests substitutes when items are not available; and informs customers of specials. Provides service in a prompt and friendly manner; ensuring that the food items are presented in an attractive and appetizing way. Furnishes each customer with a register receipt and thanks the customer for his or her patronage. Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor. Work is performed independently in accordance with established policies and procedures. Work is reviewed in terms of satisfactory accomplishment of selling activities and proper balancing of cash handled. Refers unusual problems to supervisor for assistance. Performs other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Associate frequently lifts or moves utensils or containers of food weighing up to 45 pounds is required to constantly stand and walk in accomplishing work. WORKING CONDITIONS: Working areas are often uncomfortably warm, cold and noisy. Exposed to minor cuts, bruises, burns and scalds. Danger of slipping on floors which are wet, or where food or beverage has been dropped. Multiple associates may be working in close quarters. May be required to work in rain or mild inclement weather conditions. JOB REQUIREMENTS 1. Must possess a valid driver's license or a valid commercial driver's license CDL . 2. Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to operate a motor vehicle safely. 3. Must be able to obtain and maintain Food Certificate Qualifications: 18 months of experience performing various tasks involving the preparation and serving of food. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for 12 months of experience. Must be able to drive a the mobile food truck on both base and public roads, and be able to participate in truck safety inspections and procedures as needed.
