Job Description

What You’ll Do

  • Perform a variety of clinical laboratory tests with precision and reliability.

  • Enter and verify lab orders and results in the LIS.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments to ensure optimal performance.

  • Use sound judgment when interpreting results and identifying abnormalities.

  • Support patient care by ensuring timely and accurate testing.

  • Escalate urgent patient conditions to the appropriate provider.

  • Contribute to a positive, efficient lab environment.

What You Bring

  • Strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, chemistry, hematology, and related sciences.

  • Ability to analyze test results and recognize abnormal patterns.

  • Solid problem‑solving skills and comfort with standard lab procedures.

  • Excellent organization, accuracy, and time‑management.

  • Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited two‑year MT program with clinical internship.

  • At least 6 months of laboratory experience preferred.

  • ASCP certification (MLT or MT) required; recent graduates who are ASCP‑eligible are welcome.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Laboratory setting with exposure to chemicals, odors, and infectious materials (PPE provided).

  • Evening or Night shift available.

  • Four 10-hour shifts with every other weekend rotation.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.05 - $43.26/hr.
