Valero Lead Material Specialist in NORCO, Louisiana

As aLead Material Specialistyou will provide planning assistance for daily maintenance activities and unit shutdowns, prepare expense projects and emergency shutdowns, and develop maintenance, capital, and Turnaround AFE documents for all departments.

  • Requisition materials and equipment for approved work scope.
  • Identify and utilize correct material group and cost element (G/L account) during requisition process.
  • Handle, store, and maintain material and rental equipment utilized for turnaround and maintenance activities. Locate and distribute materials to specified areas as directed.
  • Examine material delivered for turnarounds to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Accumulate costs for reporting purposes on specific jobs.
  • Work closely with purchasing, the warehouse, maintenance and turnaround superintendents, and planners in coordinating the delivery of materials to job sites for specific scopes.
  • Develop material take-offs from Bill of Materials.
  • Coordinate/communicate the status of outside shop repairs, defining scope, and evaluations of cost.
  • Receive external and internal materials from warehouse and stage in organized manner.
  • Maintain inventory record of all turnaround surplus materials. (e.g. pipe, valves, fittings, catalyst, etc.)
  • Coordinate all rental equipment needs, including delivery, pick-up, and PM service for applicable rental equipment including Turnaround & Major Maintenance.
  • Assist end users with changes and corrections to existing material and equipment records, including Bill of Materials. Review and approve end users request(s) to update, change and extend Equipment/Material Master Data to support acquisition of equipment and materials for projects, turnarounds and regular maintenance work. This process includes Functional Locations.
  • Support extended work schedules and off-hours execution during turnaround events.
  • Verify supplier adherence to Valero Approved Manufacturer List and piping specification.
  • Other duties as required.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero St. Charles Refinery, required.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Eight (8) years of Refinery Maintenance experience, including experience with PC planning and scheduling tools and software required.
  • Advanced experience in SAP, Excel, MS Word, and Outlook required.
  • Working knowledge of the use of process flow sheets and P&IDs required.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
