Norton Sound Health Corporation Patient Benefits Specialist I/II/III in Nome, Alaska

Purpose of Position:

Serve as intake officer for patients, providing information regarding health insurance resources and serve as the liaison between patients/clients and multiple agencies to ensure optimum access to services necessary.

Uphold the organizations vision, mission, and corporate values. Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with organizations policies, procedures, code of conduct and work rules.

Essential Functions:

  • Greet and register new patients, obtain patient insurance information and interpret plan benefits and answer questions regarding eligibility and application process
  • Work with eligibility representatives on behalf of the patient to ensure benefits are established and monitor deadlines for enrollment
  • Serve as a resource to hospital and clinic staff regarding health insurance programs and benefit eligibility
  • Develop reports regarding outreach and education activities, expenditures, health insurance resources utilization, etc.
  • Performs various administrative duties consistent with job responsibilities to include data entry, filing, archiving, scanning, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Knowledge of State Public Assistance processes and eligibility requirements

Physical Requirements:

Working Conditions:

Work is conducted in a standard office environment

Minimal travel is required (less than 25% of the time)
