WSP USA Senior Technician - GIS in Noida, India
WSP is currently seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and delivery-oriented candidate who has practical experience with both GIS and CAD technologies. The GIS role will involve assisting with data management and mapping activities related to hydrogeological, contaminated lands, and other environmental investigations projects. The Drafter/CAD technician role will support the Environment team globally. Our team specializes in geotechnical, environmental, and hydrogeology engineering services. All deliverables produced shall comply with WSP standards and procedures, as well as provincial regulations, standards and guidelines.

The GIS role will require the successful candidate to:
Use GIS to create clear and professional planview and cross sectional figures of project sites.
Draft figures to accurate scale.
Perform basic tasks, including drafting to scale, digitizing, data conversion, feature attribution, and editing GIS layers.
Capture required topographic layers from imagery and other sources.
Production of maps and figures to be used in reports and studies, in compliance with WSP quality management system (QMS).
Perform quality reviews to ensure geospatial and content accuracy.
Proactively identify improvements to enhance the company's GIS service to clients.
Attend to team and project needs as required, and respond within agreed timeframes.
Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to line manager.
Develop own expertise and stay abreast of developments in GIS technologies.
Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in accordance with company policies.
The CAD role will require the successful candidate to:
Use standard survey practices to efficiently draft accurate survey plans from information gathered in the field and office.
Revise existing figures without compromising quality of the existing drawing.
Draft plans and cross sections using the standards set out by WSP.
Maintain familiarity with current techniques and developments.
Actively work at improving drafting skills and increase current knowledge of surveying.
Draft plans using the standards set out by WSP using current customizations.
Ensure that the quality and accuracy of all plans for which you have responsibility meet WSP standards before they are sent in for checking.
Other duties as assigned.
GIS
Demonstrated proficiency of GIS tools such as ArcGIS (minimum 10.5.1), ArcCatalogue, ERDAS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Proficiency in drafting to scale for both planview and cross sectional figures.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
Ability to work in a very dynamic and demanding work environment.
Should possess good interpersonal skills, good team player with an innate ability to motivate colleagues to give of their best.
To be flexible and adaptable in the range of work undertaken and deliver it with enthusiasm.
To be self-motivated.
Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
With a degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (GIS), a member of a relevant professional institution or will have demonstrable experience.
Knowledge and experience of the following is essential:
Knowledge and experience in successful data management.
Proven track record in GIS.
CAD
Proficiency in drafting to scale for both planview and cross sectional figures.
Ability to convert drawings between CAD and ArcGIS.
Experience in the Environment field, primary work will include producing site plans and cross sectional figures.
Experience producing the following types of drawings are an asset; Phase 1 & 2 ESA and various Hydrogeological reports.
At least 1 to 3 years' experience using AutoCAD and related software in the preparation of survey related plans for the engineering sector.
Excellent computer skills with a good understanding of AutoCAD and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Ability to create drawings using geospatial systems is recommended.
An understanding of Microsoft Access (Database Manipulation) is recommended.
An understanding of the basic principles of surveying and survey plan requirements.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with strict deadlines.
Ability to work well as part of a team or on an individual basis.
The capacity to learn new software and be open to new ideas.
Ability to identify and set priorities; effective time management.
Strong attention to detail.
