Ellis Medicine Ultrasound / Mammography Technologist in Niskayuna, New York
The key components and expectations of the role of U/S/Mammography tech are:
Perform breast ultrasounds in conjunction with diagnostic and screening mammography
Work in a dual role that encompasses all the responsibilities of both a mammo tech and a U/S tech
Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology school with current ARRT registry and possessing a current New York State license of Radiologic Technology.
Must possess A.R.R.T. (M) registry or be registry eligible.
Registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a diagnostic ultrasonographer preferred.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
Works directly with Radiologists and other providers to maintain an effective and positive working relationship
Performs necessary quality control and maintenance on equipment. This includes awareness of our process for calling in a service call on equipment
Ability to review prior breast/radiology images and/or reports and correlate relevant findings on current study
Identifies patients and follows time-out procedure per established department guidelines
Adheres to infection control policy
Performs all breast ultrasound procedures as per procedure protocols
Adheres to ACR Breast Ultrasound Standards in regards to labeling and measurements
Understanding of patient positioning, machine controls and anatomical factors and how they relate to image quality in order to produce optimal quality images
Documents all pertinent patient information according to our Hospital and Radiologist protocol
Effectively and accurately relays findings with interpreting Radiologist in order to assist in final diagnosis/recommendations
Ensures exams are verified and completed for charging on PACS/RIS systems
Maintain New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), American College of Radiology (ACR), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and Joint Commission (TJC) standards
Complete and update all employment requirements, including all required continuing education courses, continuing experience requirements, Employee Health, Radiology competencies, and credentials
Performs all functions of the modality within the scope of licensing requirements
Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues
Secretarial and organizational skills are necessary.
Good written and verbal communication skills required
Computer knowledge required
Other duties as required

Salary Range: $36.07-54.10/hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
