Niagara Rehabilitation & Nursing Center Registered Nurse Education Instructor for CNA Training Class in Niagara Falls, New York

Educates/perform a variety of basic duties necessary to ensure students meet the State approved 75 hour Nurse Aide Training Program

or have completed the program and are waiting to take the clinical and written evaluations.

Cover education on resident unit responsibilities, responsibilites-interpersonal skills, safety, infection control, resident degnity.

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

Registered Nurse with 1 year experience in teaching.

Deomstrates ability to communicate verbally and in writing with residents and staff.

Must meet health assessment requirements, including a two-stage Mantoux skin test.

Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required.

Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Role Responsibilities - Interpersonal Skills:

Is aware of, and adheres to, Resident’s Bill of Rights and Confidentiality of Resident Information. Interacts with residents and family members, co-workers, clinical and ancillary staff in a non-judgmental, supportive and calm manner. Addresses resident and family satisfaction issues immediately by reporting them to the supervisor in a professional manner. Is aware of Resident Abuse Reporting Law. Participates as assigned in the orientation of new staff and demonstrates a positive, helpful and enthusiastic attitude. Ab ility to locate emergency equipment (i.e. fire extinguisher). Understands and can demonstrate knowledge of role in Fire and Disaster drills. Demonstrates ability to identify and respond appropriately to potential behavioral outbursts. Uses facility equipment safely. Recognizes, removes and/or reports potential hazards. Infection Control: Demonstrates knowledge of and implements universal precautions. Washes hands between resident contacts as appropriate. Handles linen and disposes of waste properly. Demonstrates ability to care for residents on precautions. Demonstrates knowledge of correct positioning and care of catheters and drainage.

Resident Care Responsibilities - Resident Dignity:

Addresses residents in a respectful manner. Discusses confidential resident information in appropriate areas only. Knocks on door prior to entering resident rooms, and maintains resident privacy and dignity when providing treatments or other resident care. Other Duties as Assigned by Administrator and/or Director of Nursing.

G. Physical Requirements:

“Occasionally” equals approximately 1% to 33% of the workday, “Frequently” equals approximately 34% to 66% of the workday, and “Continuously” equals approximately 67% to 100% of the workday (typical full-time workday is 7.5 hours).

    SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:

  4. A Licensed Registered Practical Nurse or a Registered Professional Nurse holding a current New York State license in good standing and a current trainer number.

  5. Aware of outside continuing education programs within the area.

  6. Must meet health assessment requirements, including two-stage Mantoux skin test.

  7. Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  8. Must be able to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing, and possess sufficient communication skills to perform the tasks required.

  9. Successful completion of facility conducted orientation of specialized dementia unit, as appropriate.

  10. Is a Registered Professional Nurse with at least One year of experience in a Nursing Home who has demonstrated ability to teach adult learners as evidenced and documented by one of the following:

    a. Completion of a professionally recognized course in teaching adult learners or New York State Education Department teacher certification. b. Two years of experience teaching Nursing or Nursing related programs to adults in an academic setting approved by the State Education Department or other recognized accrediting body. c. Two years of experience teaching Nurse Aides in a Residential Health Care Facility.
