Thorlabs Automation Machining Technician II in Newton, New Jersey

The candidate must have strong Toolmaking\ Manual Machinist abilities proficient in manual mills, lathes, and grinders, as well as Haas CNC 3 axis milling machines. The candidate will be building new and modifying/repairing production component tooling fixtures for full automation production.  Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations. Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to: Responsible for machining new and repairing tooling fixtures to support Automation production CNC machines.Monitors and inspect machined components coming off the machine for accuracy against specified standards on the drawingsResponsible for general housekeeping in the work area, which includes preventative maintenance on the CNC machines. Experience: Minimum 5 -7 years of experience in a similar position preferred plus.  Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, or equivalent work experienceCNC certification or CNC Trade School, a major plus Specialized Knowledge and Skills:Strong understanding of blueprint reading and geometric tolerancing, a plus. Strong sense of ownership and work ethic, written and verbal communication skills Basic computer skills, -Email, etc. Strong ability to work well in a group atmosphere, with minimal supervision and comply with high quality standards.
