CTG Controls Technician III in Newton, North Carolina

CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for a Controls Technician III.

Type: Contract

Job Title: Controls Technician III

Location: Newton, NC

Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Newton, NC

Pay Rate: Based on experience

Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm

Education: Two-year technical degree

Overview:

Join a leading Fortune 500 manufacturer to support the design and implementation of controls solutions for fiber making and cable process equipment. Help deliver fully integrated automation systems that transform raw materials, convey ware, and measure/characterize manufacturing output.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate field devices (flow, motion, temperature, material handling, safety) into fully functional equipment platforms.

  • Implement control sequence logic, fail-safe states, and recovery sequences in collaboration with engineers.

  • Support project teams with fabrication, integration, testing, installation, and technology transfer.

  • Interface with system integrators and machine builders to meet project deliverables.

  • Troubleshoot, estimate project timelines, and ensure work meets site standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Two-year technical degree

  • 3+ years equipment/controls experience

  • Ladder logic programming or equivalent

  • Experience with PID control, HMI/GUI, motion/electro-mechanical systems, and PLC integration

  • Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, LabVIEW, Safety PLCs, iFIX SCADA

  • Robot programming and computer vision systems

  • Manufacturing systems programming (C++, C#, VB)

  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, NFPA 70e, ANSI/IEC standards
