The Opportunity
Our NSW Environmental Approvals team is currently looking for a Senior Environmental Advisor to provide dedicated project support to one of our key clients, Hunter Water Corporation, within their Infrastructure Delivery team. With projects including desalination plant construction, water and wastewater treatment plant upgrades, stormwater and renewable energy, this an opportunity to support a key water utility on their sustainability journey. This role is based in Newcastle, NSW with site travel as required to the broader Hunter Region. This role will suit an individual with a strong environmental background looking to take on increased responsibility contribute to more complex projects
What you’ll do
Support environmental performance on projects in construction delivery phase
Oversee the review and implementation of environmental management plans
Guide the timely and on-scope delivery of city and community-enhancing construction projects
Provide senior technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members assisting with development and growth
Provide support and advice to our delivery partners in the delivery of $100m+ Capital Projects per annum
Provide environmental auditing capability in the post approvals space
You will also get involved in the planning and approvals processes with support of the broader experienced team
You will be supported in the delivery by senior and junior multidisciplinary team members who will assist with your delivery in the environmental management advisory space.
About You
Relevant tertiary education qualifications in environmental science or similar
Genuine interest in construction and environmental management and desire to develop skills in this area.
Auditor qualification or willingness to obtain and maintain accreditation (Environmental Lead Auditor)
Strong knowledge of environmental legislation applicable to construction sites/projects
Effective teamwork operating practices and strength in communication – written and verbal
Experience in planning, development and environmental approvals would be beneficial
Proven ability to effectively prepare reports and other outputs for variety of audiences in plain English
The ability to work with no supervision and be confident in your interactions with others
Valid drivers license and white card
