Camp O'Bannon Nature Counselor in Newark, Ohio
Camp O'Bannon is a coed, overnight camp in Newark, Ohio. We are accredited by the American Camp Association. The camp services children ages 8 - 14, who have been referred by schools and social service agencies and are identified as those children who would most benefit from a positive summer experience. Most of the children are from economically disadvantaged or unstable home situations.
There is no cost to attend Camp O'Bannon.
Camp O'Bannon is sponsored by the Newark Kiwanis Club, the 20th Century Club, with invaluable support from the United Way of Licking County, the Summer Food Service Program, and local individuals, organizations, and businesses.
- Nature Counselor -- Lead outdoor adventures, hikes, and environmental education to inspire campers' curiosity about nature. Encourage respect for the environment while providing engaging, hands-on learning experiences.
The camp season runs from June 8 - August 1, with training beginning on June 3. All positions are live-in roles for 8 ½ weeks, with weekends off. Staff receive salary, room and board, and training. Cabin counselors live in cabins with campers, while other staff have on-site accommodations.
Counselors have time off each week from Noon Saturday until 6pm Sunday.
