Work Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday 8 am to 4 pm (40 hours), with flexibility to meet program needs
A Day in the Life of a Mental Health Associate:
As a dedicated full-time Mental Health Associate you will be supporting adults and children with behavioral health needs in obtaining and/or maintaining their highest functional role in society through vocational, social, and emotional support and interventions
Engages with program participants directly within their community based settings (including home, work or school).
Gathers information about participants related to their interests, skills, experience, needs and current supports through record review, interviews, observations, and any other means necessary.
Creates and implements treatment plans for participants.
Completes service authorizations for participants.
Submits progress notes after each visit with participant, using the assigned software.
Communicates with care managers, school personnel, guardians, and others as appropriate.
Encourages and assists program participants in achieving their goals.
Supports participants during volunteer, work assessments, and other program activities.
Attends programmatic meetings, team meetings, and case reviews as necessary.
Strives for an exemplary level of cultural competency.
Exhibits patience and understanding in regards to a participants behavioral health and/or substance use disorder and the impact it may have on achieving goals.
Who We Are Looking For:
Minimum 18 years of age.
High School Diploma.
Children: 2 years' experience in children's mental health, addiction, foster care, and/or a human services field
Adults: 1 – 3 years' of relevant working experience with individuals with substance abuse disorders or serious mental health
OR Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology, or in a related human services field.
Must possess a current, valid New York State driver's license that meets the Agency driver standards.
