Position Overview:
The Project Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial performance of multiple construction projects. This position partners closely with project managers, operations teams, and leadership to ensure accurate budgeting, cost tracking, billing, and financial reporting. Ideal candidates are detail‑oriented, proactive, and eager to grow within a dynamic organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage financial aspects of construction projects from start to finish.
Prepare monthly project cost reports, forecasts, and variance analyses.
Review and process subcontractor invoices, lien waivers, and progress billings.
Track job costs, commitments, change orders, and budget adjustments.
Support monthly close activities, including revenue recognition and WIP schedules.
Reconcile project accounts and ensure accuracy in the general ledger.
Maintain project documentation, contracts, and financial records.
Collaborate with project managers to provide financial insights and improve project performance.
Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and industry best practices.
Assist with audits and process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2–5 years of accounting experience; construction or project‑based accounting strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and project billing.
Experience with construction ERP systems (e.g., Viewpoint, CMiC, Sage, Procore) a plus.
Excellent Excel skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and ability to partner with operations teams.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
