Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a Peer Support Specialist for their clients in Newark NJ. The Peer Support Specialist fosters a recovery-oriented environment for adults (18+), offering peer support services that empower individuals to regain control over their lives and recovery journey. They engage therapeutically with consumers, using personal recovery experiences to build rapport and model effective communication, coping, and self-help strategies. The specialist helps consumers identify personal recovery goals, set objectives, and select appropriate interventions, contributing actively to treatment planning. They educate on self-care, maintain therapeutic relationships to monitor emotional or behavioral changes, and refer to clinical staff when needed. Additionally, they advocate for resources based on assessed needs, ensuring services align with UBHC and unit policies.

Skills and Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Peer Support Certification
• Self‑identified current or former user of mental health and/or co‑occurring services with lived recovery experience
• 2+ years of experience supporting others using the recovery model / psychosocial rehabilitation
Ability to work independently and on a team, with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays, and basic computer documentation skills
