Overview
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Library/SNFL is the largest circulating library in the NYPL system. This library is a vital hub for library patrons in and around the City of New York and serves as a bridge between our neighborhood libraries and in-depth research library collections.
The Library Technology Aide is responsible for supporting staff and patrons with computers, Internet, programs, and technological needs for a range of services in SNFL. This position will coordinate with the SNFL tech team to ensure patron and staff needs are met.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the AV Manager, the Technology Aide will:
Assists staff and patrons with computer use, internet access, and printing
Projects a positive and courteous attitude to the public by greeting visitors and providing information about the library’s computer services
Identifies, documents, and troubleshoots basic technical issues as they arise
Helps set up computers, audio/visual equipment for classes and programs
Performs other tasks assigned
Required Education, Experience & Skills
Required Education & Certifications
- 2 years of college or high school diploma and equivalent experience
Required Experience & Skills
Ability to troubleshoot basic computer and printer issues
Experience with all standard operating systems and productivity software, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
Strong organizational skills and ability to follow detailed instructions in a fast-paced environment
Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work with a diverse patronage
Superb interpersonal and communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
Demonstrated reliability and professionalism
Experience with Audio Visual Systems is a plus
Experience with eReaders and other library technologies
Ability to speak foreign languages

Schedule
This position will be scheduled for 18 hours per week during SNFL’s hours (https://www.nypl.org/locations/snfl) , Saturday hours and at least one evening shift per week are required. Candidates must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule to coincide with branch needs.
