The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.Position SummaryThe Columbia Center for Translational Immunology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) is seeking a motivated Technician B to support research focused on understanding the biology of T cell function in cancer and autoimmunity. The Technician B will provide routine technical support to the laboratory under the direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) or senior laboratory staff. Responsibilities include assisting with experiments, maintaining laboratory supplies and inventory, and performing standard laboratory procedures.The position will involve exposure to a wide range of research techniques, including flow cytometry, cell culture, PCR, immunohistochemistry, and mouse colony maintenance. The Technician B will also contribute to the overall functioning of the laboratory by ensuring adherence to safety, compliance, and operational protocols. Collaboration with faculty and researchers across multiple CUIMC departments will support projects in cancer immunology, autoimmunity, transplantation, infectious diseases, and related areas.Responsibilities * Assist laboratory staff in performing routine experimental procedures, including tissue culture, PCR, flow cytometry preparation, and immunohistochemistry. * Operate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment such as tissue culture hoods, incubators, centrifuges, and microscopes. * Support basic laboratory workflows, including preparation of reagents, solutions, and media. * Maintain accurate and organized records of samples, reagents, inventories, equipment logs, and quality control documentation. * Perform routine data entry and basic data processing. * Assist in animal colony maintenance under supervision (e.g., genotyping, record keeping, husbandry support). * Track, order, and backorder supplies; ensure adequate stock and organization of laboratory materials. * Assist in the development or modification of standard operating procedures, assays, or laboratory methods as needed. * Contribute to a laboratory environment that supports scientific excellence, integrity, efficiency, teamwork, and continuous improvement. * Perform other related duties as assigned.The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
