OverviewThe Senior Specialist will be the subject matter expert (SME) as it relates to compliance with all the environmental, health, safety regulations, programs, and procedures within Steam Operations. The individual will provide guidance and consultation for the attainment and maintenance of environmental, health, and safety compliance and the achievement of operational EH&S work goals. This role will oversee all matters pertaining to environment, health and safety and will ensure proper records are kept as required by law and corporate instruction. The person in this position will initiate needed changes to provide improved health and safety conditions.ResponsibilitiesCore Responsibilities * Conduct compliance reporting, inspections and tests, incident investigations, program implementation, documentation, and project safety oversight. * Perform training of personnel in various safety and industrial hygiene subject areas. * Conduct and document Job Site Safety Exchanges, inspections and assessments of company and contractor personnel regarding work practices. * Assist with coordination of the companys response to environmental incidents such as spills and releases so that reporting, cleanup, response operations and waste management are conducted safely and in compliance with all regulatory and company requirements. * Ensure all personnel use sound EHS practices in accordance with company policy and government regulations. * Review procedure development and maintenance, incident report development and recordkeeping activities. * Conduct vendor Environment, Health and Safety Plan reviews for ensuring vendor compliance with company policy and government regulations. * Serve as an asbestos SME providing guidance and counsel to operations regarding removal, clean up and disposal of asbestos ensuring compliance with all regulatory and company requirements. * Perform other related tasks or assignments as required.QualificationsRequired Education/Experience * High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of relevant experience or * Associate's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience or * Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience or * Master's Degree and 2 years of relevant experiencePreferred Education/Experience * Associate's Degree in Safety, Engineering, Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics, Biological Science * Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Engineering, Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics, Biological Science * Master's Degree in Safety, Engineering, Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics, Biological ScienceRelevant Work Experience * Must be a highly motivated individual, demonstrate a strong Commitment to Excellence, and understand the vital importance of personal accountability, required. * Must have excellent organization skills and ability to successfully complete multiple tasks without compromising quality or timeliness, required. * Must be able to effectively interact with various levels of personnel, required. * Experience in Operations or EH&S as noted above.
