Amazon Senior Software Dev Engineer III, ShopBop - Technology in New York, New York

As an SDE3, you will help lead software development and technical initiatives across a wide array of systems. Key job responsibilities

  • Lead and Innovate: Drive the development and maintenance of Java-based applications leveraging AWS services (SQS, SNS, DynamoDB, Lambda, ECS).

  • Collaborate for Success: Work hand-in-hand with product managers, UX designers, marketing stakeholders, and engineers. Your role will be pivotal in shaping customer experiences, steering technology choices, and ensuring architectural integrity of our systems.

  • Mentor and Elevate: Guide junior developers, raise the coding standards bar, and provide constructive feedback. Your expertise will help grow the next generation of engineers.

  • Navigate Ambiguity: Tackle complex problems in a space where customer preferences, legal compliance, and marketing goals intersect. You'll balance business needs with technical solutions.

  • Champion Best Practices: Your code will not only solve problems efficiently but also serve as a benchmark for quality within the team. You'll help drive improvements to operational health, and reduce technical debt.

  • Continuous Learning and Leadership: As a key influencer in team strategy and goals, you'll foster an environment of growth, inclusivity, and open dialogue.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Usage of generative AI tools to enhance workflow efficiency, with a willingness to learn effective prompting and evaluation practices.

  • Ability to recognize opportunities where generative AI could enhance products, workflows, or customer experiences.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
