Citigroup Senior Lead Counsel - Prime Finance in New York, New York
Job Description
The Senior Lead Counsel - Prime Finance is a senior level position responsible for providing legal guidance and thought leadership to the business. The overall objective of this role is to provide legal support, advice, and guidance to the business.
You will be a member of the Prime Finance team and work closely with stakeholders to address legal and regulatory questions and issues that arise in connection with the Prime Finance business. You will play a leading role in helping the business navigate regulatory landscape for a U.S. broker dealer entity, advice on platform and product structures.
Responsibilities:
Provide legal and regulatory advice to stakeholders in the Prime Finance business covering prime brokerage, margin lending, and other forms of securities financing transactions.
Serve as lead lawyer in connection with platform and product development, collaborate with stakeholders to provide advice on regulatory and legal implications and issues.
Assist on advocacy on regulatory rulemaking relevant to the Prime Finance business.
Manage day-to-day legal activities as a subject matter expert in area of responsibility and provide advisory services to business partners
Monitor management of complex legal issues and transactions, escalating when necessary
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards
Qualifications:
Knowledge of U.S. margin regulation and customer protection laws (such as portfolio margin rules, Regulation T, Regulation U, Regulation X, Rule 15c3-3, FINRA 4210 Rule, UCC Articles 8 and 9, Bankruptcy Code safe harbors, Rule 15a-6).
7+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably in financial services
Banking or financial industry experience, including laws related to banking regulations
Knowledge of international laws, regulations and practices while staying abreast of regulatory and legal environment, internal policies and industry trends that impact the business
Experience with complex deals, demonstrated ability to analyze issues and develop legal solutions
Effective communication and negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain trusted relationships
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and relationship management skills
Proven ability to apply sound judgement while managing assignments in a demanding, fast-paced environment
Bar license in good standing to practice law
Education:

$211,280.00 - $316,920.00
