Description We are looking for a skilled Property Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in residential property management accounting and ensure accurate financial reporting for our portfolio. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail and a solid foundation in general accounting and property management systems.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and manage financial statements related to residential property operations.
• Perform month-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure financial accuracy.
• Utilize property management software, such as Yardi or MRI, to manage accounting records and reports.
• Oversee accrual accounting processes, including recording and monitoring of expenses and revenues.
• Collaborate with property managers to analyze financial performance and address discrepancies.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and company financial policies.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting for property management operations.
• Provide support for audits by preparing relevant documentation and responding to inquiries. Requirements • At least 3 years of experience in property management accounting, preferably in residential properties.
• Proficiency in property management software such as Yardi or MRI.
• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles, including accrual accounting and general ledger maintenance.
• Experience with month-end close processes and financial reporting.
• Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with property managers and other stakeholders.
