Amazon Principal Product Manager - Tech, Amazon Catalog - Product Graph in New York, New York
Description
Shape the future of how customers discover and understand related products on Amazon! We are seeking a Principal Product Manager to define the strategic vision for how billions of products connect and relate to one another—enabling customers worldwide to discover, compare, and confidently choose the right products for their needs.
Amazon's Catalog powers every shopping experience across our platform. As the authority for product data, we enable customers to find what they're looking for while empowering millions of selling partners to showcase their products effectively. Now, we are transforming how customers understand relationships between products—from finding the right color or size, to discovering compatible accessories, to comparing bundle and pack configurations, to understanding how products evolve across generations.
As the single-threaded leader for our Catalog Product Graph initiative, you will define how the world's largest selection becomes intelligently connected. You will establish the strategic vision for capturing how brands organize and merchandize their products, how products relate across categories and brands, and how customers can seamlessly navigate these relationships—at Amazon catalog scale, worldwide. This work will power both our established desktop/mobile shopping experiences and next-generation agentic shopping experiences, positioning Amazon as the definitive destination for understanding product relationships.
This role demands someone who thrives in ambiguity. You will often start without a clearly defined problem, and be responsible for transforming complex retail business and customer experience challenges into elegant product strategies. You will influence entire market segments, drive clarity and alignment across diverse organizations, and balance bold risk-taking with sustainable architecture. You will join a team of tenured technical and product leaders working directly in Amazon's core catalog systems and own the end-to-end product roadmap for this initiative. Your deep retail expertise and understanding of customer shopping behavior will be essential to delivering measurable impact and competitive advantage.
Key job responsibilities

Operate in highest ambiguity environments where problems are undefined and you are expected to drive clarity and build consensus across organizations
Bring technical fluency in distributed systems, knowledge graphs, and AI/ML technologies to influence the technical architecture
Partner with senior engineering and program leaders to build quality measurement mechanisms that make relationship defects visible and systematically reducible at catalog scale
Distinguish between one-way and two-way doors to enable smart risk-taking and innovation
Drive strategic decisions on whether to invent, deprecate, or simplify—owning results and demonstrating excellent judgment in escalations
Stay abreast of relevant development and innovation occurring both inside and outside the company and use that knowledge to inspire big ideas
Amplify your impact by mentoring other leaders, educating the product and engineering communities through internal talks and knowledge sharing
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
10+ years of technical product or program management experience
Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
Experience working with and influencing senior level stakeholders
