What We Can Achieve Together:The Northeast Division Climate and Energy Director (External Affairs Advisor II) will develop, lead, and implement Northeast Division Climate and Energy Program strategies and goals motivating and engaging TNC colleagues and outside stakeholders in governments, multilateral agencies, NGO and community partners, and/or the corporate sector to develop an integrated approach to energy and climate policy and program delivery. This position will work with and through a dispersed team of colleagues across the ten business unites of the Northeast Division (WV, PA/DE, MD/DC, NJ, RI, CT, MA, VT, NH and ME) to create cross-border and integrated strategies and programming to support achievement of TNC's ambitious 2030 Climate Mitigation outcomes. Beyond the Northeast Division leadership the Director will work in close collaboration with other TNC programs including the NY Division, Appalachians Program, and our peers and teams across North America working to further common goals and balance clean energy advancement with biodiversity conservation. The ideal candidate will be able to understand and work across the varying socio-economic and political complexity of a geographic region that represents a complex matrix of energy production, consumption, and delivery that overlaps with some of the highest densities of population and biodiversity occurrences in America. They will strive to work with multiple actors and stakeholders to advance clean energy development including Independent System Operators, state governments, and utilities, and strive to do so as to help ensure equitable outcomes.
