Position Summary The Laboratory Coordinator's primary responsibility is to work in the clinical laboratory, processing and analyzing samples, and maintaining the laboratory in inspection-ready condition. Typical duties may include, but are not limited to, performing laboratory procedures to produce accurate and consistent laboratory results including running daily assays, processing and evaluating samples, cryopreserve client depositor patient samples, and perform any laboratory procedure as directed by the laboratory director. This position must have thorough knowledge and understanding of quality control and quality assurance procedures. Rotating weekends and holiday coverage required Responsibilities Work in the Endocrinology/Andrology Laboratory as assigned by the Medical Laboratory Director. Performs laboratory procedures requiring licensure and assists Supervisor on regulatory tasks requiring licensure. May have indirect or direct reports in Supervisor?s absence. Read and follow Laboratory Standard Operation Procedure manual. Successfully perform Endocrinology/Andrology procedures as outlined below. Know and comply with federal and state regulatory guidelines for clinical laboratories . Procedures Endocrinology Evaluate samples. Enter procedure data into EMR. Laboratory maintenance: instruments maintenance, calibration assays, QA/QC, sterilization, and safety procedures. Maintain QC forms. Maintain inventory. Perform hormone assays. Analyze blood on STAT and routine samples. Report and sign off on results. Ensure the endocrine laboratory is in inspection -ready shape. Sign off on Quality Control forms when Supervisor not present. Support maintenance of quality management system . Assist NYSDOH inspector during audits. Perform yearly Prof iciency Testing. Perform quarterly and annual audit for Laboratory Director review. Run all daily, weekly and monthly controls necessary to maintain equipment. Train new Laboratory Assistant and Laboratory Coordinators as needed. Andrology May cross-train in andrology as needed. Minimum Qualifications Requires bachelor?s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience. Must be licensed as a clinical laboratory technologist in the state of New York. Requires three years of experience in a laboratory setting. Preferred Qualifications Must be resourceful, well organized and detail oriented. Able to work independently and have excellent computer skills. Familiarity with Beckman Coulter Access II and UniCel Dxl 600. Prior experience in a fertility clinic.
