Touro University Instructional Design Intern for the Graduate School of Education in New York, New York
Overview
The Instructional Design Intern will work directly with the Instructional Designers at the Graduate School of Education to support and deliver on projects, playing a pivotal role in their success. The intern will experience hands-on what it is like to create, design, and evaluate courses, curriculum, and content. An extensive degree of creativity and self-motivation is expected.
The Instructional Design Intern will grow both technically and personally through their experience working closely with the Graduate School of Education Instructional Designer. Each intern will also work closely with the Assistant Director of Instructional Design prior to beginning the internship to identify their individual goals to accomplish. The Online Education team provides an internship experience that promotes growth with higher education experience by assigning interns specific projects will be assigned based on these goals. This is a limited term role.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Effective communication working with members of the Instructional Design team
Assisting to design and develop engaging, innovative, and effective online course materials with clear strategies and tactics to achieve desired learning outcomes.
Assist Instructional Designers in their workshops.
Review and revise existing learning content in our Canvas Learning Management System.
Collaborate with the Instructional Design team to create interactive online course content.
Staying abreast of emerging instructional technologies and evolving standards in educational practice and design.
Designing activities and professional development opportunities that support instruction.
Providing feedback for both online and on-campus course components.
Using graphic design technologies to enhance the appearance of online courses
Integrating multimedia approaches to course design and deliverables
Performing other job-related duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Preparation, and Training
BS/BA required; must be currently enrolled or recently graduated from MA or MEd in Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, Learning Science (Andragogy) or related field from an accredited university or equivalent experience in the field of training and development, education, or communications.

Position Specific
Preferred candidates for this role should possess experience working in the field of Education and Special Education.
Extensive knowledge of current and emerging instructional technologies and pedagogies
Demonstrated knowledge of pedagogical methods for learners with diverse abilities and backgrounds, specifically Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
Demonstrated comfort with technology in education.
Able to conduct one-on-one and group training of faculty
Adept at developing text, video, or audio training materials, to assist faculty with learning new tools and strategies
Able to assist faculty in developing videos and graphically attractive material
Demonstrated skill developing and implementing training and support for faculty, staff, and/or students
Strong technical skills and knowledge of informational technology
Computer Skills
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (Canvas preferred)
Proficiency with video editing tools and procedures
Ability to become proficient on the in-house database
Proficiency with HTML and CSS
Demonstrated expertise with e-learning software and content development tools as well as ability to build effective training content (e.g. Adobe Captivate & Premiere)
Familiarity with new media and new technology solutions for higher education
Experience with a variety of operating systems (OSX, Windows, & Mobile) and video recording tools.
Required Technology Proficiencies
Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Captivate, Premiere, & Photoshop)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Google Apps and Education tools, educational video production tools (e.g., YuJa), and cloud computing (e.g., Box)
Travel
New York Based.
Travel to various locations where Touro University System facilities are located, as needed.
Maximum Salary
USD $29.58/Hr.
Minimum Salary
USD $23.66/Hr.
